The first known Demantoids were discovered in the Ural Mountain range of Russia, and now the highly-refractive green stone, a form of garnet, is sought out all over the world, including Madagascar and Namibia. Its name is a French term for diamond, when in fact this gemstone has a greater "light-scattering degree" than a diamond.
