Milady. Heads will turn, eyes will widen.
This stone is not extravagantly large, but the imposing square-cut carries a noble past. We associate the deep red-purple tone with cups of ceremonial wine, pomegranates bursting with brilliant seeds to celebrate harvest and the beginning of a new lunar year.
In fact, the name Garnet is related to the word pomegranate (which means "multi-seeded apple") for the juicy, red-purple arils or seeds for which this ancient fruit is famous. The juice of the pomegranate was, according to legend, used to dye the precious rugs of ancient Persia. In Judaism, sages say that the pomegranate, a symbol of the Jewish New Year, contains 613 seeds, one of each of the laws to be obeyed throughout the year by observant Jews.Gemstone Details
